Question Dye combinations of the same color?

I've tried dying my male paragon ancient armor yellow, and then added a second yellow, to see the effect it would have.
It actually shows a deeper yellow in the preview with 2 yellows instead of one, and that's the color I wanted, but I can't apply it because the dye cannot be of the same colour.

Here's a screen of the difference in colour:

Why can't I apply it when there's obviously a difference in colour in the preview. Anet: let me add 2 dyes of the same colour if I want please.
There's nothing that can be done about it atm, so I'm not really looking for an answer. I only hope to see a fix or something.

PS: this is not the only armor with which this happens. I've seen it on more armor previews.

Should be in Sardelac, even though it's been requested before.

I suppose you've tried adding a brown or some other color as well?

There's a notification message there saying 'All dyes cannot be the same colour.'

As Absinth said, try using a different colour along with it. It won't work otherwise.

It would be nice to get a different shade of the same colour but looks like it's not gonna happen any time soon.
Para Ancient's nice though

He knows that...his entire point is that the coloring is obviously different with two yellow dyes but it won't let him dye it because it's two of the same.

I agree, I've noticed this before too. I agree with the try yellow+yellow+brown+ maybe even another yellow and see what happens. So when this is eventually moved to Sardelac, /signed

Colors seem to react differently on dif armor and sometimes pieces within an armor set.

You might try adding an orange for a deeper color.

I have a Para with a silver yellow that makes for a very metalic looking gold color. It seems, imo, to give the armor a true metalic glow.

good luck

Thanks!
I eventually used Yellow+Yellow+Orange, but that made it slightly less shiny. But It will have to do. I'm sorry it had been suggested before, I searched for it, but couldn't find it ^^

/signed. I would like to do a 2x Silver or 2x Black. I've previewed on my Warrior's Armor, and it looked nice, but due to the 'All dyes cannot be the same colour' thingy, I can't!

Using two of the same dye seems to show what the dye color would look like using the old dying scheme.

Yeah, it sorta doesn't make sense for two dyes of the same color to have a different appearance than just one dye, but not allow you to use two.

The problem here is how the system works.

When you add one dye, no problem, item dyed just the way it was supposed to.

Add two, and the base skin gets in the mix.
They should either fix the dye system to fully colorize instead just changing hue, saturation and brightness.

Or update all skins to change the base color to the color the item is supposed to have when not dyed, and bring back dye removers. Color would change then to:
- Cloth to Beige.
- Leather to Fallow.
- Metal and stone to Silver.

I know how you feel. I have noticed this issue as well and am not happy I cant stack 2 of the same color without mixing another in. So many of the colors look so dull singly, but with the option of using 2 would be wonderful. Only problem I see with this is, once we (if ever haha) get to use just say....2 yellows, people are going to want to be able to use 3...etc...
And yes, I miss the old dye removers as well. they were so useful, not just as a remover.. but in a mix as well.

I'd like the option of having two dyes of the same colour applied to get that colour that often shows up. It's usually a slightly deeper version, so I definitely would like the same colour crap removed.

I never noticed this before... but I would like to give more deeper colors such as a solid blue or something like that.
Hmm... 5 whites stacked....
That's gonna be a bright piece of equipment.

It defies logic that two exactly the same dyes give a different colour as one of that dye, but since it actually does differ:

I'd much rather see them fix the whole bugged mixing system than make such a small irrelevant change.

The fact that using 2 or more of the same dye produces a different effect than just 1 of that dye only shows that the dye mixing system is not working properely. It shows that any case of using more than 1 dye makes it get mixed with another color (of large variety, dependant on item you dye), in a slightly different way.

Practically what you see by putting 2 of the same dye is the color that will be used for determining the mixing effect for that dye.

So, for example, if you want to mix Red with Black the effect won't be a mix of the colors you see as single Red or single Black, it will be exactly between the colors you see by previewing Red+Red and Black+Black.
And trust me, it's not that the game engine can't render the correct mix - it can, just find someone who dyed the same item before the buggy update!

On many items the differences are hardly noticable, it may be the reason the problem wasn't spotted and properely tested by the devs.

This problem is worth a second close look.
